The Defiant has no public release date and no pre-order SKU. The useful action is a Steam wishlist on app 3184960. This page is the storefront checklist so Getting Started does not have to repeat button-by-button Steam advice. Console players still wait for PS5 and Xbox listings — see platforms.

How to wishlist on PC

1. Open the official Steam store page.
2. Sign in.
3. Click Add to your wishlist (wording can vary by Steam client language).
4. Optionally follow the game and 4Divinity so trailer drops hit your homepage.

Steam will email you when the game moves out of “Coming soon” if your account allows product emails. That is not a pre-load guarantee and not a price alert by itself. Family sharing is blocked until release, which is normal.

If a third-party key shop already sells “The Defiant PC” with a date, treat it as noise. This wiki will not link those offers.

What wishlist does not do

• It does not reserve a deluxe edition. None is announced.
• It does not get you into a closed beta. No Steam playtest is listed.
• It does not lock a regional price.
• It does not add PS5 or Xbox copies. Those storefronts are confirmed but unpublished. When they appear, this page will add the URLs next to Steam.

How to stay current without refreshing Steam every hour

Bookmark the updates hub. ChinaJoy and gamescom already happened; the next useful ping is a date, a Next Fest demo, or a console listing. Official socials are on links. Trailer IDs we trust are on trailers.

If you only have time for one article after wishlisting, read the campaign overview so you know you are buying a solo anthology plus optional PvE co-op, not a live-service ladder.

Hardware before you spend money

Steam still prints 8 GB RAM minimum, 16 GB recommended, 100 GB storage, and TBD for OS, CPU, and GPU. Do not buy a graphics card “for The Defiant” from this wiki. The sheet is on system requirements.

Steam Deck compatibility is unknown. Wishlist on Deck if you want the same email; do not assume Proton will handle an unreleased UE5 shooter.

Console players

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are confirmed by Hoothanes, 4Divinity, IGN, and Gematsu. There is no PS Store or Microsoft Store link to click yet. Follow 4Divinity on the links page and this wiki’s updates. Cross-play with Steam is not confirmed — do not wishlist on PC assuming a friend on PS5 can squad in co-op.

After you click the button

1. Confirm the app ID in the URL is 3184960 so you did not wishlist a similarly named game.
2. Skim How to Play and controls.
3. If snow combat is why you are here, open the northeast chapter. If spy missions are why, open Shanghai stealth.

That is the entire pre-launch economy. No codes, no battle pass, no fake deluxe.

Common mix-ups

The Defiant is not XDefiant, not Defiance (the 2013 MMO), not a Roblox experience, and not a comic-book publisher. Confirm the developer line says Hoothanes and the publisher says 4Divinity before you click. The Steam title is exactly “The Defiant.” Chinese storefronts may show 抵抗者. Same app.

If you already wishlisted and the library says Coming soon, you are done. Checking the page daily will not move the date. Use the ChinaJoy 2026 and gamescom 2026 recaps if you missed the summer shows, then leave the storefront alone until Steam mails you.
